Adaptive CrossFit features workouts modified for athletes with various physical and neurological injuries and disorders, and is designed to provide the appropriate stimulus to each athlete for each workout. Adaptive athletes include wheelchair users, amputees and athletes with traumatic brain injuries.
Because there is great variation in the types and severity of injuries in the adaptive athlete community, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to modifying any particular workout. A programmer or coach working with an adaptive athlete uses many tools to preserve a workout’s intensity and stimulus when creating modifications based on each athlete’s injuries.
